• In a gas explosion and fire at an apartment block in tomsk in siberia, russia, two people were killed and more then ten other people were injured.
• After colliding with the railway platform, a freight train crashes at stuttgart-feuerbach station. there were no injuries reported.
• Casper, wyoming, usa is the scene of a murder-suicide. two people are killed, including a female instructor in computer science (off-campus) and a male professor she had been seeing (in casper college's classroom). the perpetrator, the male professor, then committed suicide in the classroom.
• David kwiatkowski (33), a former employee at exeter hospital in exeter, new hampshire is indicted by a federal grand jury on fraud and product-tampering counts in connection to an outbreak of hepatitis c which sickened more then 30 people and raised concern in seven other states.
