  • 01 Oct 2016 Yemeni Civil War: Houthi Forces launch rockets that reportedly hit HSV-2 Swift, which is a military vessel belonging the United Arab Emirates Navy. It was reportedly destroyed off the coast Yemen near the strategically important port of Mokha in the Red Sea. (Reuters),
  • 02 Oct 2016 Libyan Civil War (2014-present). An ISIL sniper shoots Jeroen Oerlemans, a Dutch war correspondent and photographer, in Sirte, Libya.
  • 03 Oct 2016 Afghanistan War (2001-present). The Taliban launch an offensive into Kunduz, which they briefly captured last summer. (Nine Entertainment Company Now). A bomb in Kabul kills one and injures two.
  • 04 Oct 2016 Sectarianism and violence in Pakistan: Two motorcyclists open fire on a bus heading to Hazara Town in Quetta, Pakistan. The attack killed four Shia Hazara women and injured two others. (The Daily Mail, (Dawn)

  • 08 Oct 2016 Saudi Arabian-led intervention into Yemen: Saudi-led coalition aircraft launch airstrikes against civilians at the funeral for the father of Houthi government's interior minister in Sana'a.   • 09 Oct 2016 Conflict between Kurdish and Turkish Kurds (2015-present). A PKK car bomb killed at least 17 people in Turkey's southeast Hakkari Province.
  • 10 Oct 2016 Afghanistan War (2001-present). A suicide bomber kills at most 14 people, mostly police officers in Lashkargah in Helmand Province as Taliban insurgents advance on the Afghan city. (Reuters) A gunman shoots down 14 people at a Shiite shrine in Kabul, on a holy day.
  • 11 Oct 2016 According to reports, a gunman dressed in an Afghan police uniform kills 14 people and injures many more at the Shiite Karte Skhi shrine in Kabul, just before Ashura begins. The attacker is killed by police. (UPI),
  • 12 Oct 2016 Iraqi Civil War: Haider al-Abadi, the Iraqi Prime Minister rejects Turkey’s claim that Turkish forces should be part of an operation to retake Mosul from militant-held forces.

  • 15 Oct 2016 At least 55 people were killed in the Iraqi Civil War (2014-2017), 2016 Oct Baghdad Attacks: An attack on a Shi'ite mosque, a check-point at the police station and the family of an anti Islamic State Sunni paramilitary leader have resulted in the deaths of at least 55 Iraqis.   • 16 Oct 2016 Turkey-ISIL conflict : Three police officers are killed and at least nine others are injured in a suicide bomber attack on a safehouse belonging to ISIL.
  • 17 Oct 2016 Iraqi Civil War: The Battle of Mosul is announced by Haider al-Abadi, Iraqi Prime Minister, and backed by the U.S.-led Coalition. This battle will retake ISIL-held Mosul which was declared the capital of the caliphate in Iraq. (Reuters),

  • 20 Oct 2016 Turkish military intervention in the Syrian Civil War: Turkish jets hit Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militia with 26 airstrikes in three recently-captured-from-ISIL villages west of al-Bab and northeast of Aleppo.
