The Corsicana Daily Sun has been a staple of the community since 1873. It is the oldest business in Corsicana and one of the oldest businesses in Navarro County. The Sun is a daily newspaper that covers local news, sports, weather, and more.

The Corsicana Daily Sun has a long history of serving the community. In 1873, the paper was founded by George Washington Barrett. Barrett served as the editor and publisher of the paper for over 20 years. Under his leadership, the Corsicana Daily Sun became one of the most respected newspapers in Texas.

A Longstanding Tradition of Serving the Community

In 1895, Barrett sold the Corsicana Daily Sun to J.C. Trice. Trice was a former Confederate soldier and had served in the Texas Legislature. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge and the Knights of Pythias.

Trice continued to build on the success of the Corsicana Daily Sun. He expanded the paper’s coverage to include statewide news and increased its circulation. Trice also built a new office for the paper on West Fifth Avenue. The building was equipped with state-of-the-art printing presses and other modern amenities.

Under Trice’s leadership, the Corsicana Daily Sun became one of the most successful newspapers in Texas. It had a daily circulation of over 3,000 copies and was widely respected for its journalistic integrity.

In 1925, J.C. Trice passed away and his son, John C. Trice, took over as publisher of the Corsicana Daily Sun. John C. Trice continued his father’s tradition of excellence at the paper. He expanded its coverage to include national and international news stories. He also increased its advertising revenues by adding new features such as comics and puzzles.

John C. Trice’s leadership helped make the Corsicana Daily Sun one of the most successful papers in Texas. It had a daily circulation of over 10,000 copies and was known for its high-quality journalism.
