  • 01 Feb 2016 PKK Rebellion (2015-present: Two Turkish Army soldiers were killed in an ambush by the Kurdistan Workers Party in southeast Diyarbakir Province.
  • 02 Feb 2016 War in Afghanistan (2001-present), Military Intervention against ISIL: U.S. Airstrikes in Eastern Afghanistan Hit an ISIS Radio Station and Killed 29 militants.
  • 03 Feb 2016 Conflict between Israel and Palestine (2015-present). Three Palestinian assailants carry out a shooting attack and stabbing near Jerusalem's Damascus Gate. One policewoman was killed, another was seriously injured, and a civilian was lightly hurt before being shot by security forces. Their bodies were found with pipe bombs. (The Times of Israel). Two Hamas militants are killed when a tunnel they dug from Gaza Strip to Israel bursts.
  • 04 Feb 2016 Yemeni Civil War (2015-present). Six Al-Qaeda in The Arabian Peninsula militants are killed in a drone strike in Yemen's Shabwah Governorate.
  • 05 Feb 2016 Syrian Civil War: The Syrian Army, along with its allies, capture Ataman near Daraa. (Reuters)Fifteen thousand Syrians converge on the border with Turkey in response to the offensive by the Syrian Government in the Aleppo Governorate.
  • 06 Feb 2016 Jocelyn Elliott, an Australian woman kidnapped along with her husband in Burkina Faso by al Qaeda, has been freed by an affiliate.
  • 07 Feb 2016 2016 Taiwan earthquake: At least 29 people were killed in yesterday's earthquake in Taiwan. There are at least 120 people trapped in Tainan under the collapsed buildings. 198 people have been rescued.
  • 08 Feb 2016 Libyan Civil War (2014-present). A MiG-23 fighter plane of the Libyan Air Force crashes during airstrikes against Islamic State-controlled areas east of Derna.
  • 09 Feb 2016 Syrian Civil War: At least 10 people are killed in a suicide bombing attack on Damascus, the capital of Syria. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant claim responsibility. (The New York Times). (AP) Doctors without Borders reports that three people were killed and six more injured in Friday's airstrikes. The source of the strikes was not known. They struck the Tafas field medical center in Dara'a Governorate, near the Jordanian border.
  • 10 Feb 2016 Boko Haram insurgency, two female suicide bombers attack a camp for people displaced in Dikwa in Nigeria. (CNN), (Al Jazeera), (Reuters)(ABC News)A twin suicide attack on Cameroon, near the Nigerian border, has left at least six people dead and more than thirty others injured.
  • 11 Feb 2016 Conflict in Northern Mali: Two civilians were killed and a customs officer were injured when Islamist militants attacked a post at Mopti, central Mali.
  • 12 Feb 2016 Conflict in Northern Mali: At least five United Nations peacekeepers are killed and 30 more injured in an attack by suspected Islamist militants against a MINUSMA station in Kidal, northern Mali.
  • 13 Feb 2016 Saudi Arabia has sent fighter jets and troops to Turkey's Incirlik Air Base in preparation for a planned ground invasion against Syria. Turkey's Minister for Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu confirmed that troops were being deployed in Adana, near the border with Turkey and Syria. However, the number of personnel was not confirmed.
  • 14 Feb 2016 War in Afghanistan: According to the United Nations, civilian casualties reached an all-time high in 2015. At least 3,545 noncombatants were killed, and 7,457 were injured.
  • 15 Feb 2016 Following a clash at the Syria-Turkey border, a Turkish soldier was killed by an armed group trying illegally to enter Turkey. According to the Turkish military, the clash took place in Yayladagi District of Hatay Province.
  • 16 Feb 2016 Iraqi Civil War (2014-2017: Three Americans kidnapped last month in Baghdad were released by the Iraqi National Intelligence Service.
  • 17 Feb 2016 Yemeni Civil War (2015)-present: A suicide bomber kills at most 13 soldiers at a base of the Yemeni Army run by forces loyalto ousted President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi. It is located in Aden, a southern port city. The attack was claimed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
  • 18 Feb 2016 Conflict between Kurdish and Turkish: February 2016 Diyarbakir bombing. A roadside bomb struck a military convoy killing six soldiers from the Turkish Army in southeast Diyarbakir Province. (ABC News, (Reuters) Turkish Air Force jets bomb Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), bases in Iraqi Kurdistan within hours of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdan blaming Kurdish militants for 2016 Ankara bombing.
  • 19 Feb 2016 Libyan Civil War (2014-present), Military Intervention against ISIL: United States Air Force warplanes conduct airstrikes in western Libya on ISIL, near the Tunisian border. According to reports, at least 38 people were killed.
  • 20 Feb 2016 Libyan Civil War (2014-present). According to Ivica Dacic, Serbia's Foreign Minister, two Serbian embassy staff were abducted from Libya in November 2015. They are believed to be among the dozens of people killed in yesterday's U.S. strike on an ISIL camp in Sabratha. (Reuters)Around 14 people have been killed and 32 injured in fighting in Benghazi's eastern city. The battles were fought between the Libyan National Army, Islamist militants, and most notably in the Boatni neighbourhood.
  • 21 Feb 2016 Syrian Civil War: February 2016, Homs Bombings: Two bomb explosions struck the Syrian city Homs, killing at least 57 and injuring more than 100 others. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant takes responsibility. (Reuters) (AFP via Daily Mail] (BBC) February 2016 Sayyidah Zaynab Bombings: A series of bombings occurred in Sayyidah Zaynab in Damascus, Rif Dimashq Governorate. At least 83 people were killed and 178 were injured. ISIL claims again responsibility.

  • 23 Feb 2016 Syrian Civil War: Battle of Aleppo (2012): ISIL militants closed the main supply route of the Syrian Army to Aleppo and captured Khanasir according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
  • 24 Feb 2016 Kurdish-Turkish Conflict: According to security sources, nine militants were killed when Turkish Air Force helicopters attacked a group of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK fighters) fighters in southeast Turkey.

  • 27 Feb 2016 As of midnight, a truce has been declared for the Syrian Civil War. According to reports, Russian Air Force attacks against opposition positions were intensified before the truce was in effect.

  • 29 Feb 2016 Iraqi Civil War (2014-17): A suicide bomber attacked a Shiite funeral in Miqdadiyah Governorate. At least 40 people were killed and 58 more were injured. The attack was claimed by ISIL.
  • 06 Feb 2016 An earthquake of magnitude 6.6 strikes southern Taiwan, killing 117 people.
