• 01 Mar 2013 Protests in Bangladesh 2013:: The death count in Bangladesh has risen to 44 after protests continued following Delwar Hossain Sayeedi's sentencing.
• 02 Mar 2013 Protests in Bangladesh 2013: Bangladesh's death toll rises to at most 50 after protests continue following Delwar Hossain Sayeedi's sentencing.
• 03 Mar 2013 2013 Lahad Datu standoff:: Fighting erupts in Sabah, Malaysia, leaving seven dead, including five policemen. Four people are taken hostage. The Malaysian Military responds by increasing their troop presence in that area.
• 04 Mar 2013 Conflict in Northern Mali: French officials announced that a soldier died while fighting with Islamic militants this weekend. This is France's third casualty in Operation Serval since it began. (BBC). France claims it is "probable that al-Qaeda chief Abdelhamid Abou Zeid, Islamic Maghreb, was killed in Mali in February."
• 05 Mar 2013 2013 Lahad Datu standoff :: In an attempt to end the standoff, the Malaysian Army launched an attack against an armed Filipino group located on Borneo.
• 06 Mar 2013 Battle of Ar-Raqqah - Syrian rebels capture Ar-Raqqah. This is the first major city under rebel control during the civil war in Syria.
• 07 Mar 2013 2013 Lahad Datu standoff :: At least 60 people have been killed in the conflict between Malaysian Armed Forces and the Sultanate of Sulu.
• 08 Mar 2013 After being held hostage for ten months, the Greek-owned oil tanker MT Smyrni was taken hostage by Somalia's 26 crew members. They were released with a ransom of $9.5million.
• 10 Mar 2013 War in Afghanistan: Hamid Karzai, President of Afghanistan, alleges that the U.S. Armed Forces are working in concert with the Afghan Taliban to keep some troops around after the planned 2014 withdrawal.
• 11 Mar 2013 In the latest insider attack on coalition forces, two US and three Afghan soldiers were killed in Afghanistan's War in Afghanistan (2001 to present). Two Afghan civilians are also killed by American soldiers who failed to stop at a Kabul checkpoint.
• 12 Mar 2013 Syrian civil war: 30 army deserters are killed by the Syrian Army in an ambush at Damascus Airport. (Reuters) The rebels have been captured by the Baba Amr district and the Syrian army has launched intensive air strikes against Homs.
• 13 Mar 2013 2013 Srinagar Attack: Five Indian paramilitary troops are killed and three civilians are injured in a gun battle with two militants in Srinagar, Indian-administered Kashmir. Later, two militants were killed by CRPF.
• 14 Mar 2013 Iraqi insurgency after the U.S. withdrawal: A series of suicide bombers and car bombers attack central Baghdad. This is followed by a militant attack against the Justice Ministry building. At least 25 people are injured and 7 police officers are killed.
• 15 Mar 2013 American rapper Lil Wayne suffers a seizure at Los Angeles, California, United States.
• 16 Mar 2013 British Lance Corporal James Ashworth, who was protecting his fellow soldiers from a grenade explosion in southern Afghanistan, died while trying to save them from the same fate in 2012. He will be presented with the Victoria Cross.
• 17 Mar 2013 At least 10 people are killed in an attack on a Garmat Ali bus station near Basra, Iraq.
• 18 Mar 2013 Syrian civil war: Fighter jets of the Syrian Air Force fire rockets at northern Lebanon, with no reported casualties. (CNN) The Syrian Opposition alleges that President Bashar al-Assad used chemical weaponry in an attack against their forces in Aleppo.
• 19 Mar 2013 19 March 2013, Iraq: An attack on the country: At least 98 people are killed and 240 more are injured in a series of shootings and bombings.
• 20 Mar 2013 James Herbert, a British horror writer, dies in Sussex at the age of just 69.
• 21 Mar 2013 Gaza-Israel conflict :: Two rockets were fired from Gaza Strip, Israel. They were fired in Sderot (Israel), in violation of the ceasefire that was established after the eight-day conflict in November 2012.
• 22 Mar 2013 Officials from Pakistan say that 4 insurgents were killed in drone strikes in Pakistan.
• 23 Mar 2013 War on Terror: The Pakistani Taliban threaten assassinate the former President Pervez Musharraf, if he goes back to Pakistan. (CNN) After "joint efforts", an Australian man was freed from a ransom demand by an al-Qaeda-linked organization in the Philippines.
• 24 Mar 2013 War on Terror: A suicide bomber attacks a Pakistani military checkpoint located in North Waziristan's tribal district, killing at most 17 soldiers.
• 25 Mar 2013 (Al Jazeera) (Al Jazeera). South Africa's President Jacob Zuma claims that 13 of his soldiers were killed by rebels in the Central African Republic.
• 26 Mar 2013 Australia has announced that it will close its Tarinkot base in Urozgan Province. The majority of troops will return home by the end this year.
• 27 Mar 2013 Insurgency in South Thailand: The Thailand government is ready to hold peace talks with Muslim separatists groups in the hope of ending a decade-long conflict.
• 28 Mar 2013 Terrorism in Kenya: Six gunmen (presumedly from the Mombasa Republic Council) and one officer were killed in an attack on a Malindi casino, Kenya's coastal town.
• 29 Mar 2013 Terrorism is in Pakistan: A blast close to the United States Consulate at Peshawar in Pakistan kills 10 and injures at least 31 more.
• 30 Mar 2013 Phil Ramone, a musical innovator and 14-time Grammy Award winner producer, has died at the age of just 79.
• 31 Mar 2013 Terrorism is in Pakistan: A bomb injures six people, killing two and wounding six more, Adnan Wazir (a former Member of Parliament for the Awami Party in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan).
