  • Qassam rocket strikes a high school in ashkelon, israel, a city of more than 117,000 people. hamas militants launched the rocket from beit hanun, northern gaza.
  • After its liftoff was postponed twice, the space shuttle discovery ('discovery') takes off from cape canaveral to reach the international space station at 2 :38 p.m. edt (1838 utc).
  • The main building was closed due to a bomb scare at dublin airport's arrivals area. the man responsible for the terror attack has been arrested. he claims to belong to al-qaeda. the disruption caused approximately 9,000 passengers to be affected and 50 flights to be grounded for two hours.
  • Yahoo! is being sued by the international federation of phonogram and videogram producers china provided links to pirated music tracks.
