- Today's report by the u.s. state department places the kingdom saudi arabia on its first list of countries of particular concern (cpcs), which are known to engage in "particularly serious violations" of religious liberty. the state department must take all necessary steps to increase religious tolerance in the country it has designated as a cpc. this includes up to sanctions.
- Israeli troops kill six palestinian gunmen and four more.
- Three americans were sentenced in afghanistan to up to 10 year imprisonment for torturing and illegally holding afghans and running an illegal private prison in kabul. edward caraballo, brent bennett, jonathan idema and brent bennett, who are defiant americans, say they will appeal the decision.
