  • 01 Jun 2016 Syrian Civil War: The United States-backed Syrian Democratic Forces launch an offensive to retake control of Manbij, Aleppo Governorate, from ISIL.
  • 02 Jun 2016 Somali Civil War (2009-present). At least 16 Al-Shabaab militants were killed in a raid on Somali forces near Kismayo. This includes the mastermind behind the attack at Garissa University College.
  • 03 Jun 2016 2016 European Floods: The Seine River flood waters are expected to reach six metres above their normal level. At least 11 people have been killed by flooding in France and Germany. (BBC)A sixth body was found in Bavaria, near the Austrian border.
  • 04 Jun 2016 Syrian Civil War: Syrian Government Forces enter Raqqa Province, the capital of Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq and Levant. It is one of three simultaneous attacks on Syria and Iraq.
  • 05 Jun 2016 Conflict between Kurdish and Turkish Kurds (2015-present). Turkish Air Force bombs Kurdistan Workers Party targets in northern Iraq, southeastern Turkey, killing at least 27 militants.
  • 06 Jun 2016 Five people who worked for Jordanian intelligence were killed in an attack at a Palestinian Baqa'a refugee camps near Amman.
  • 07 Jun 2016 A car bomb explosion in Istanbul's main tourist district, Turkey, kills seven police officers and four civilians. It also leaves 36 people with serious injuries. CNN Turk reports that the explosives were remotely controlled and caused the destruction of a police bus. No one has yet claimed responsibility.
  • 08 Jun 2016 War in Afghanistan (2001-present: 12 Taliban members are killed by the Taliban. They were captured during recent ambushes in Ghazni Province, June 3rd and 5.
  • 09 Jun 2016 Somali Civil War (2009-present). Al-Shabaab claims it has killed at most 60 Ethiopian soldiers during an attack on an AMISOM base in central Somalia.
  • 10 Jun 2016 Afghanistan War (2001-present). A bomb explodes at a mosque in Nangarhar Province. It kills four people and injures nearly 40 others.
  • 11 Jun 2016 Officials report that fighting broke out between ISIL militants (2001-present), and Afghan police in Haska Mina District of Nangarhar Province. Six police officers were killed and fifteen militants were wounded.
  • 12 Jun 2016 Iraqi Civil War (2014-2017: ISIL militants attacked a military barracks east of Fallujah in the Third Battle of Fallujah. More than 50 government soldiers were killed and more than 50 militia members were injured. The assault resulted in the deaths of at least 12 militants.
  • 13 Jun 2016 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting: Officials in Orlando, Florida continue to identify the bodies from yesterday's attack. 33 of the 49 victims have been identified so far and their families have been notified.
  • 14 Jun 2016 Afghanistan-Pakistan skirmishes : Afghan and Pakistani troops clash at the Torkham border crossing, between the two countries. One Afghan soldier was killed and one Pakistani major was wounded. Another 22 people were also hurt. Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have grown over the attempts of Pakistan to construct a crossing gate.
  • 15 Jun 2016 Syrian Civil War: At least 34 people were killed in airstrikes by the Syrian government on rebel-held areas of Aleppo.
  • 16 Jun 2016 Libyan Civil War (2014-2018): At least 10 security personnel in Abu Qurayn, west-of Sirte, are killed by a suicide bomber.
  • 17 Jun 2016 Iraqi Civil War (2014-2017), Military Intervention against ISIL, Battle of Fallujah (2016) : The Iraqi government retakes the main government building in Fallujah.
  • 18 Jun 2016 Terrorism within the European Union: Twelve people were arrested, and three more men were charged with terrorist offences in Belgium. These charges follow dozens of raids that were carried out mostly in the Brussels area.
  • 19 Jun 2016 Pan-Orthodox Council - A meeting of Eastern Orthodox churches opens on Crete, the Greek island. This is the first such gathering in a millennium. After a dispute, however, the Russian, Bulgarian and Georgian Orthodox Church of Antioch declined to attend. The event will continue until June 27,
  • 20 Jun 2016 Afghanistan War (2001-present). A minibus transporting private security guards explodes at Kabul, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 and injuries to several others.
  • 21 Jun 2016 Jordanian-Syrian border incidents in the Syrian Civil War: A car bomb explodes near an outpost of the Jordanian Armed Forces in the extreme north-eastern part of Rukban. This is a temporary refugee camp for Syrian refugees. Six soldiers are killed and fourteen others are injured.
  • 22 Jun 2016 Moro conflict: The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant declares War on the Philippines
  • 23 Jun 2016 Boko Haram Insurgency: Medecins Sans Frontieres reports that more than 1,200 people died from starvation or illness in a refugee camp to flee Boko Haram's northeastern Nigeria.
  • 24 Jun 2016 Conflict in Moro: Seven Indonesian sailors kidnapped off Sulu, near Mindanao, in the southern Philippines. This raises terrorist fears. (The New York Times).
  • 25 Jun 2016 Moro conflict: The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant exhorts its Indonesian and Malaysian supporters to fight Rodrigo Duterte in the Philippines.
  • 26 Jun 2016 Iraqi Civil War (2014-17): Battle of Fallujah (2016). The commander of counter-terrorism forces that participated in the offensive claims that Fallujah was "fully liberated".
  • 27 Jun 2016 Syria Civil War spillover to Lebanon: A suicide bomber attacked Qaa, a Lebanese village near the Syrian border. At least six people were killed and thirteen others were injured.
  • 28 Jun 2016 Yemeni Civil War: Three bombings by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in Yemen's southern port of Al Mukalla have killed 38 government troops and injured 24 others.
  • 29 Jun 2016 Attack on Istanbul Ataturk Airport in 2016: 42 people have been killed.
  • 30 Jun 2016 War in Afghanistan (2001-present). A convoy of Afghan National Security Forces outside Kabul is attacked by a coordinated ambush that includes suicide bombers and heavy machines guns, resulting in more than 40 deaths.
  • 12 Jun 2016 An attack on a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida killed 49 civilians and injured 58 others; the gunman, Omar Mateen, is killed in a gunfight with police.
