  • Researchers from the university of california los angeles have created a modified hiv virus that targets p-glycoproteins in cancer cells.
  • Conflict between israel and palestine: idf soldiers kill a palestinian who they claim tried to stab them. witnesses claim that the 13-year old was not armed. (haaretz). (al jazeera).israel returns 15 remains of militant palestinians to the palestinian authority for burial at gaza as a gesture of goodwill. (bbc).israel may consider new security measures that could lead to right-wing israelis opposed to the gaza strip pullout being detained.
  • Idf soldiers shot and killed a palestinian who they claim tried to stab them. witnesses claim that the 13-year old was not armed.
  • As a gesture of goodwill, israel returned the remains 15 militants palestinians to the palestinian authority to be buried in gaza.

  • In colombia and venezuela, at least 64 people have been killed by floods or mudslides.
  • Ban ki-moon, south korea's foreign minister, states that his country is keen to increase diplomatic efforts with north korea.
  • In beirut, 23 people, including former prime minister rafic hariri, are killed when the equivalent of around 1,000 kg of tnt is detonated while hariri's motorcade drives through the city.
