  • 04 Oct 2012 After Syrian forces attacked the Turkish border town Akcakale, five people were killed by them, the Turkish parliament approved a motion authorizing crossborder military operations against Syria.
  • 05 Oct 2012 A sustained bombing campaign is being launched against Homs, a Syrian city. This is the worst that it has seen in five years.

  • 22 Oct 2012 After rocket fire from Gaza on southern Israel and mortar attacks on an IDF patrol close to the border, the Israeli air force struck a rocket-launching squad in northern Gaza Strip. Three people were reported to have been killed.

  • 28 Oct 2012 Syrian civil war: Opposition activists have reported at least 128 deaths in the country as the UN-brokered ceasefire seems to be crumbling. At least 22 people were killed when the Syrian Army bombed three districts of Damascus and the city Bara near Idlib. (CNN/Reuters) Al Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri promises support to the rebels in a new video posted to a jihadist site.

Leaders of the rebel Free Syrian Army begin negotiations with Kurdish representatives to end clashes between Kurds, the Free Syrian Army, and Kurdish forces in northern Syria. Hundreds of hostages were taken and over 40 fighters killed in the conflict.
