  • 01 Mar 2015 Estonian parliamentary elections 2015: The ruling Reform Party wins but loses the majority it had with its coalition partner, Social Democratic Party. Two new parties, the right-of the-centre Free Party of Estonia and the eurosceptic Conservative People's Party of Estonia, cross the threshold for the first time in years.
  • 02 Mar 2015 Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant : A coalition of Iraqi Armed Forces and militias numbering in the 30,000s launches an offensive against Islamic State positions at Tikrit. Troops take control of al-Tin district and al-Abeid.
  • 03 Mar 2015 A dispute between industrial workers has forced Norwegian Air Shuttle to ground all passengers from Norway, Denmark and Sweden. This action will leave 35,000 people without a home.
  • 04 Mar 2015 Italy's Coast Guard rescues 941 migrants from trafficking south of Sicily aboard five motorized dinghies as well as two larger vessels. These boats are located near Italian ports. Authorities are unable to account for ten.
  • 05 Mar 2015 In Seoul, the American ambassador to South Korea Mark Lippert was attacked by a knife-wielding attacker. According to authorities, the injuries to his wrist and face are not life-threatening.
  • 06 Mar 2015 Two knife-wielding attackers injure at least nine people at a station in southern China. One of them is shot by the police.
  • 07 Mar 2015 Boko Haram: Five suicide bomb explosions in Maiduguri, northeast Nigeria kill 54 people and leave 143 others injured.

  • 09 Mar 2015 Two cars of a Carolinian Amtrak passenger train, running north from Charlotte, North Carolina to New York City, collided with a tractor-trailer at Halifax, North Carolina. The accident resulted in the train being derailed and several people suffering minor injuries.

  • 13 Mar 2015 Four people were killed in a Myanmar air strike targeting rebels at its border with China.
  • 14 Mar 2015 The United Nations will send an emergency aid package to Vanuatu, with at least four deaths and reports of many more after Cyclone Pam.
  • 15 Mar 2015 Libyan Civil War: Fighting is raging near Sirte, a western Libyan city, between Islamic State-affiliated militants and a militia alliance.
  • 16 Mar 2015 Libyan Civil War: About 20 medical staff from the Ibn Sina Hospital, Sirte, are being held hostage by the Islamic State.

  • 19 Mar 2015 2014-15 Australian region Cyclone Season: Queensland authorities prepare for the impacts of Severe Tropical Storm Nathan, which is expected to land near Cooktown tomorrow morning.
  • 20 Mar 2015 Islamic State in Iraq & the Levant: Islamic State released a video showing three executions of Kurdish peshmerga soldiers in northern Iraq. The Islamic State also threatened to execute many more. 45 people are killed in an Islamic state attack against a Kurdish Nowruz (New Year's Day).
  • 21 Mar 2015 Yemeni crisis: Due to the worsening security situation, the United States military has ordered the evacuation of 100 Special Operations Forces members.
  • 22 Mar 2015 Yemeni crisis: As the United States pulls out all its personnel, the United Nations Security Council meets in Geneva to discuss the rapidly deteriorating security situation. (Fox News). The strategically important city Ta'izz is captured by Shia Houthis rebels.

  • 25 Mar 2015 Afghanistan War (2001-present: Twenty-nine insurgents are killed by the Afghan National Army and twenty-one are injured in an operation in Daikundi and Ghazni provinces. This was within the last 24 hours.

A coalition of Middle Eastern nations led by the Egyptian navy and the Saudi Arabian army attacked positions in Yemen for the second consecutive day. This resulted in at least ten deaths within Saada Governorate. Saudi Arabia announces it will establish a "no fly zone".
  • 28 Mar 2015 2015 military intervention in Yemen. Saudi airstrikes in Yemen continue for the third consecutive day, while fighting continues in Aden. Saudi Arabia claims that it has full control over Yemen's airspace. (Al-Jazeera). Saudi planes evacuated a United Nations mission in Yemen from Sana'a, the capital.
  • 29 Mar 2015 2015 military intervention in Yemen. Pakistan sends a Boeing 777 to evacuate Pakistani citizens who are concerned about their safety. The plane will be allowed to enter the country, despite the Saudi Arabian no-fly zone.
  • 30 Mar 2015 Yemeni Crisis (2011-present: China's People's Republic evacuates its citizens to Yemen because of declining security. (AP)2015 military intervention, Yemen: 21 people were killed when Saudi-led airstrikes struck a refugee camp located near a military base in the northern Harad District. Houthi militants gain in Hadi’s last bastion, Aden.
