  • The Pentagon of the United States confirms that a unit containing military personnel arrived in Liberia to coordinate support for West African peacekeepers.
  • North Korea and Iran plan to create an alliance to develop long-range missiles with nuclear warheads. The plan calls for North Korea to transport missile parts to Iran to be assembled at a plant in Iran near Tehran. [10][11]
  • Michael McKevitt, a leader of the Real IRA, is convicted by the Republic of Ireland's Special Criminal Court of two terrorist offenses: ampquotdirecting terrorismampquot; and ampquotmembership of a criminal organisationampquot. David Rupert was one of the key witnesses. Rupert was an FBI agent who posed in the Real IRA as McKevitt to gain access to him. McKevitt will be sentenced by the three SCC judges later.
