  • Jan 4th, 2019 The United States Central Command announced that Jamal Ahmad Mohammad Al Badawi was killed in an airstrike by the United States in Ma'rib Governorate. He is suspected to be responsible for the 2000 USS Cole explosion that resulted in 17 American sailors being killed.
  • Jan 4th, 2018 Afghanistan War: At least 20 people are killed and 27 more injured in a suicide bomber attack that occurred near security officers investigating illegal drug and alcohol deals in Kabul, Afghanistan. The attack is claimed by the Islamic State.
  • Jan 4th, 2017 2017 Brooklyn train crash: A commuter train on the Long Island Rail Road collided with a train in Brooklyn during rush hour, New York. It left 103 people injured.
  • Jan 4th, 2016 Iraqi Civil War (2014-2017: Two Sunni mosques in central Iraq are bombed and a muezzin is murdered amid fears of renewed sectarian strife after the execution in Saudi Arabia of Shi'ite cleric Nimr al-Nimr.

  • Jan 4th, 2013 Conflict between Israel and Palestine: Many thousands gather in Gaza to show unity between the ruling Hamas, elected in 2006 by Palestinians, and Fatah since then.
