  • 2010 Nobel Peace Prize: Liu Xiaobo, a Chinese dissident, is announced as the Nobel Peace Prize winner. China blocks internet coverage. (Al Jazeera). (CNN. The Hindu). (RIA Novosti). A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ma Zhaoxu stated in a press release, that the Nobel Peace Prize had been "desecrated", and this could cause damage to ties between the two countries.
  • The Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Liu Xiaobo, a Chinese dissident who is currently in prison. China blocks internet coverage.
  • Leaders of the Arab League meeting in Libya to support President Mahmoud Abubas's decision not to continue peace negotiations with Israel over Israel’s recently expired moratorium for construction in the West Bank.
  • The United States National Security Advisor General James L. Jones has announced his resignation. His deputy Thomas E. Donilon will replace him.
