  • RAF Bombing of Lübeck 234 British aircraft conduct a strategic night bombing raid on Lübeck, Germany. The attack results in 12 planes being shot down, but successfully burns one-third of the city's area, leaving 16,000 people homeless. The raid destroys the central power station and several factories, effectively closing the port for three weeks. This marks a significant psychological and strategic blow to the German homeland during World War II.
