- 01 Mar 1918 The German submarine off Rathlin Island, Northern Ireland.
- 02 Mar 1918 New York Yankees purchase first baseman George Burns from Detroit Tigers and immediately trades him to Philadelphia Athletics.
- 03 Mar 1918 Germany, Austria and Russia sign the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk ending Russia's involvement in World War I, and leading to the independence of Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.
- 04 Mar 1918 Terek Autonomous Republic established in RSFSR (until 1921).
- 06 Mar 1918 The Finnish Air Force is founded. The blue swastika is adopted as its symbol as a tribute to the Swedish explorer and aviator Eric von Rosen, who donated the first plane. Von Rosen had painted the Buddhist symbol on the plane as his personal lucky insignia.

- 03 Mar 1918 Russia signs the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, agreeing to withdraw from World War I, and conceding German control of the Baltic States, Belarus and Ukraine. It also conceded Turkish control of Ardahan, Kars and Batumi.
